Shop Update: New Gemstone Note Cards

15 Feb

New goodies have been placed in the shop today! Whether you or a friend are professional petrologists or just avid rock collectors, I’m sure this set will complement your collection. Ever since I was little I’ve been mesmerized by gemstones. I was the kid who always had to fill up a little bag of semi-precious stones every time we went to a souvenir shop. I had quite the collection. I find it fascinating how the earth spits out these little beauties usually hidden beneath layers of rough rock and dirt. It just shows that with a little love and heavy elbow work the darkest of things can shine with beauty.

I’ve been experimenting with gouache lately. I love it. It’s somewhat of an acrylic/watercolor blend paint. So you get the thickness of an acrylic along with some beautiful subtle qualities that watercolor is known for. I painted these gems for part of my store’s new identity and thought that they were way to pretty to keep to myself. Note cards seemed to be the perfect outlet for them. The set includes 4 beautifully hand painted note cards each featuring a particular gem stone: Black Onyx, Amethyst, Blue Agate, and Ruby. They are size A2 (4.25″ x 5.5″ when folded) with blank interior and are professionally printed on 80C card stock. They come nicely packaged with 4 brown paper kraft envelopes. Find them here.

Hope you enjoy! I’m working on a new print to add to the shop as well. Look for it soon.
